Retinal disorders are the root causes of many other disorders in ophthalmology. The retina is the part of the eye that senses lights and sends an impulse to the brain. Retinal disorders damage this vital tissue. This can affect vision and some can be serious enough to cause blindness. Retinal detachment is a medical emergency, where the retina is pulled from the back of the eye. AMD is a disease linked with ageing that gradually eliminates central vision. A cataract is a covering of the lens in the eye. The vision appears blurry in a cataract patient. Diabetic eye diseases are caused due to the rise in blood sugar level. Glaucoma is another group of disease that could cause damage to the eye’s optic nerve.
